The Caledonian Pipe Band from Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, Scotland were back in Barga today for a reception in their honour at the Palazzo Pancrazi. The mayor of Barga, Marco Bonini presented then with a commemoration plaque and flags for their visit to the city. They in their turn presented at the city with gifts from Saltcoats.
Then it was down to business – a concert of piping music in Piazza Angelio to celebrate the connection between Barga and Scotland.
The piazza then enjoyed a series of set pieces from the pipes and drums of the Caledonian Pipe Band
Temperatures in the Piazza were in the high 30’s making it heavy going for the tartan clad musicians but in the classic and time honoured tradition – they soldiered on.
