The Wild West comes to Fornaci. This area moved into strange uncharted territory this week with the news of a shooting in Fornaci di Barga. In broad daylight ten shots were fired from a pistol at short range at businessman Umberto Guidugli, with two of the shots hitting its target in the leg and stomach – the other eight peppering the door around the fallen figure. Apparently the reason behind the shooting was a disputed debt of just Euro 500 over three years ago but it was justification enough for Luigi Pardini, 75 years old to shoot at Guidugli with his Beretta LR calibro 22 pistol firing off all the shots in the gun before leaving the scene.
He was later arrested in his home by Carabinieri and charged with attempted murder. He has since been transferred to San Giorgio prison in Lucca to await trial. The unfortunate Umberto Guidugli, aged 66 was rushed to the Campo di Marte hospital in Lucca where today he was operated on to remove the bullet from his abdomen. During the operation a kidney and a piece of his intestines was removed by surgeons. He is now in intensive care but is expected to survive.
