Torchlight procession this evening in Barga organised by the Vespa Club Barga. It should have taken place before Christmas but the unrelenting bad weather which hit this area in December managed to postpone this event until some warmer and drier weather finally arrived on the scene. This evening it was perfect weather for a vespa or motorbike ride in January – cool, crisp and invigorating. More than 60 vespas, bikes and quads including one vespa with the Befana seated behind the rider complete with large broom sticking out of the back of the scooter were blessed by Don Stefano before they took to the streets around Barga Giardino and up into Barga Vecchia before once again returning “to base” in Piazzale Matteotti and the warmth of a fire and a glass or two of mulled wine. Included in the event this evening was an exhibition of vintage racing bikes organised by the Tordis Racing Team
All proceeds from the fiaccolata will go to the charity – Caritas Diocesana del comune di Barga.
