Emmy Faison and Maya Hardin – geocaching observers

GEOCACHING is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world.

Two artists from the USA are here in Barga this month, both are working on the multiple colour plate print making course run by Swietlan Kraczyna (his recent exhibition in Barga can be seen here) and both are participating artists on the Cultural Geocaching Project.

Emmy Faison is a new name for readers on this site – in fact it is her first visit to Barga.

Maya Hardin on the other hand, has been a regular contributor to this site over the years with articles (here) going back to 2008.

As you can hear in the conversation with the pair earlier on today in the barganews office, although using different media in the geocaches, both were struck by the almost “theatre aspect” of life in the piazza in Barga Vecchia.

Actors strolling into the piazza, saying their piece and then exiting stage left, so to speak.
