The Education Minister, Stefania Giannini was on an official visit to Barga this morning for the celebrations for the completed renovations to the house and museum of the poet Giovanni Pascoli at Castelvecchio Pascoli.
She toured house to see for herself the renovations then continued on to the official event at Palazzo Pancrazi which was today also celebrating the final removal of the scaffolding which has covered the building for the past couple of years as work has now been completed on the roof.
Stefania Giannini is an Italian politician and linguist. She has recently been appointed the Education Minister of Italy under the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi cabinet.
Giannini in 1991 became a professor at the University for Foreigners in Perugia, holding the chairs of Phonetics and Phonology (1992-1994), Sociolinguistics (1994-1998) and of Glottology and Linguistics (1998-2013).
Candidate in Tuscany with the Mario Monti’s party Scelta civica, she was elected senator in February 2013. In November the same year, she was appointed secretary and coordinator of the party Scelta civica.
