Per il 2018, il tema proposto è stato DIZZY GILLESPIE e SABATO 25 AGOSTO, al TEATRO DEI DIFFERENTI di BARGA (ore 21:30), la BARGAJAZZ ORCHESTRA diretta da MARIO RAJA eseguirà i SETTE BRANI SELEZIONATI fra quanti hanno presentato un ARRANGIAMENTO ORIGINALE PER ORCHESTRA JAZZ basato sulle COMPOSIZIONI DI DIZZY GILLESPIE: “BIRKS’ WORKS” (arrangiamento di DAVID BERGER), “ANTHROPOLOGY”(LUCA POLETTI), “CON ALMA” (ROBERTO ROSSI), “THINGS TO COME” (SARA MONTAGNI), “CON ALMA”(CRISTIANO CALARESU) , “GROOVIN HIGH”(LODOVICO RINCO) e  “CON ALMA” (ED PUDDICK)

 
 
OSPITE DELLA SERATA e SOLISTA D’ECCEZIONE, il TROMBETTISTA STATUNITENSE JEREMY PELT, ASTRO NASCENTE dello strumento e trionfatore nei SONDAGGI degli ultimi anni FRA CRITICI E LETTORI della prestigiosa RIVISTA DOWNBEAT.
 

Jeremy Pelt has become one of the preeminent young trumpeters within the world of jazz. Forging a bond with the Mingus Big Band very early on, as his career progressed, Pelt built upon these relationships and many others which eventually lead to collaborations with some of the genre’s greatest masters. These projects include performances and recordings with Cliff Barbaro, Keter Betts, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Ravi Coltrane, Frank Foster, Winard Harper, Jimmy Heath, Vincent Herring, John Hicks, Charli Persip, Ralph Peterson, Lonnie Plaxico, Bobby Short, Cedar Walton, Frank Wess, Nancy Wilson and The Skatalites, to name a few.

Pelt frequently performs alongside such notable ensembles as the Roy Hargrove Big Band, The Village Vanguard Orchestra and the Duke Ellington Big Band, and is a member of the Lewis Nash Septet and The Cannonball Adderley Legacy Band featuring Louis Hayes. As a leader, Pelt has recorded ten albums and has toured globally with his various ensembles, appearing at many major jazz festivals and concert venues.

Pelt’s recordings and performances have earned him critical acclaim, both nationally and internationally. He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal by legendary jazz writer and producer, Nat Hentoff, and was voted Rising Star on the trumpet, five years in a row by Downbeat Magazine and the Jazz Journalist Association. Pelt is currently touring throughout the United States and Europe in support of his latest release, “Make Noise!” (Highnote rec. 2017).

 
 
 
Protagonista della intensa due giorni è la BARGAJAZZ ORCHESTRA, formazione che affianca GIOVANI MUSICISTI in rampa di lancio all’esperienza di NOMI DI PRIMO PIANO sulla scena nazionale come del resto ha sempre fatto, sia sotto la direzione di BRUNO TOMMASO negli anni passati che in quella di MARIO RAJA in tempi più recenti. 
 
Oltre a fornire a COMPOSITORI ED ARRANGIATORI la rara OPPORTUNITÀ di sentire i PROPRI LAVORI eseguiti da una BIG BAND IPERPROFESSIONALE, la BARGAJAZZ ORCHESTRA è stata PALESTRA PER SOLISTI che poi si sono affermati a LIVELLO INTERNAZIONALE (PAOLO FRESU o PIETRO TONOLO, giusto per fare due nomi) anche PARTENDO DAL NOSTRO TERRITORIO (come NICOLAO VALIENSI).
 
L’EDIZIONE 2018 della BARGAJAZZ ORCHESTRA si presenta ai nastri di partenza con una formazione attrezzata per essere all’altezza dei suoi predecessori: ai SAX NICO GORI, ROSSANO EMILI, RENZO TELLOLI, DIMITRI GRECHI ESPINOZA e ALESSANDRO RIZZARDI; alle TROMBE ANDREA TOFANELLI, ALESSIO BIANCHI, FEDERICO TRUFELLI e ANDREA GUZZOLETTI; ai TROMBONI NICOLAO VALIENSI, MARCELLO ANGELI, SILVIO BERNARDI e DAVIDE GUIDI; alla CHITARRA GIANCARLO BIANCHETTI, al CONTRABBASSO PAOLO GHETTI, al PIANOFORTE STEFANO ONORATI, al VIBRAFONO LUCA GUSELLA e alla BATTERIA STEFANO PAOLINI.

In his career as a jazz composer, Ed Puddick has received commissions from organisations including the Colchester Arts Centre’s Allard Commission (“Near Horizons” 2015), the Greater Manchester Music Hub (“Secret Music” 2014 and “Another Kind Of Imagination” 2016), Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra (“Gil Evans Suite” 2012) and National Youth Jazz Wales (“Suite for Big Band” 2009). In April 2018 Ed’s work will be heard as part of the historic “Beyond Wigan Pier” production. His music has been performed in many of the UK’s top jazz venues as well as the Royal Albert Hall (London), Bridgewater Hall (Manchester) and Symphony Hall (Birmingham), as well as broadcasts on BBC radio and Jazz FM. Ed is committed to jazz education, leading workshops and ensembles for a wide variety of educational organisations, and teaching jazz composition and arranging at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London) and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
