Celebrations for inaugural flight Glasgow - Pisa
Festa in Barga this afternoon to celebrate the inaugural flight of the new Ryanair Glasgow - Pisa service which now links Scotland and Tuscany.
The ex mayor of Glasgow Alex Mosson, a regular visitor to Barga, was joined by John Bellany and representatives of the Pisa and Prestwick airports in todays festivities.
The Tuscan political world was represented by the mayors of Castelnuovo, Pisa and the President of the Province Andrea Tagliasacchi. More images here

WE HAVE BOOKED FOR THE 27TH MARCH AND THE 19TH APRIL BOTH COMING WITH OUR SMALL PARTIES OF WEEDGIES (THATS GLASWEGIANS) TO THE OOTSIDERS I THINK I SHOULD INQUIRE IF RYANAIR WOULD BRING THE BARGA BELL OVER AS WE ARE GETTING NOWHERE WITH IT AT THE MOMENT.I FEEL SO SORRY FOR SOLIMAR AS THEY TORE HOLES IN THE POCKETS OF EVERYONE FOR YEARS SO WELL DONE RYANAIR BILLY
With such a strong historical connection between Barga and Scotland I'm surprised it has taken the airlines so long to realise the business potential in this route. Well done Ryanair. We've booked a few trips already.

At last! We are delighted with this new service. It's long overdue. We look forward to being able to attract more holiday makers to join us in the area now it's even easier to get to beautiful Barga.
