It's a meal held every year in Piazza Salvo Salvi in front of the Palazzo Pancrazi. Salami, cheese, freshly cut ham and bread and of course – flasks of red wine. So what is so special about these tables set out in the piazza? It's the 12 men sitting around the tables with their families. They all share at least one thing in common. They were all born in the year 1924. So some quick maths brings up 83 x 12 = 996. Nine hundred and ninety six years of experience between them – almost as old as the Duomo of Barga and double the age of the Palazzo Pancrazi behind them. The class of 24 meet each year in August to celebrate their good fortune and to enjoy the good things in life. Long may they do so.
