One of the great characters of Barga Vecchia celebrated his birthday yesterday. Natale Bertolini is now the proud owner of no less than 80 candles on his birthday cake.
He was joined at Aristo’s bar in Barga Vecchia by a number of his friends who helped him keep the blues away with some rowdy songs, some bawdy stories and what appeared to be a meal of walnuts and red wine .. maybe that is his closely guarded secret for a long and happy life.
Who knows? Some of the Lake Angels, including his son Ayala were in evidence as the corks flew and the wine flowed well into the evening.
Congratulations Natale, may you have 80 more.
