This evening the Teatro dei Differenti in Barga Vecchia was crammed to the gills with the faithful as the Partito Democratico of Walter Veltroni brought their election campaign to a close with a noisy and exuberant final party. The proceedings started with a song … the National Anthem sung by mezzosoprano Ida-Maria Turri and Stefano Romani on Pianoforte and finished in style with a rousing operatic number by the Welsh tenor Dennis O’Neill.
Dennis is in Barga with students from the Cardiff International Academy of Voice where they are working on the staging of two operas – Il Signor Bruschino by Rossini and Acts 3 and 4 of Puccini’s La boheme – with the director Carlo da Prato and the conductor, Massimiliano Murrali.
