One year ago today we published the news of the death of Don Piero Giannini (article here) who was the 14 years the parish priest of Sommocolonia and then for 31 years the Proposto of Barga.
This afternoon in the Conservatorio Sant’Elisabetta here in Barga Vecchia on the first anniversary of his death was held the first part of a day of memory organised by the Arciconfraternita di Misericordia of Barga, Fondazione Conservatorio di Sant’Elisabetta and the new Proposto Mons. Stefano Serafini.
The event continued with a photographic exhibition with many images of Don Piero and the presentation of a new book entitled “Don Piero: un cammino insieme”.
Following on from the exhibition the sizable crowd moved onto the Duomo to witness a new plaque to Don Piero unveiled by the new Archbishop of Pisa, Mons. Giovanni Paolo Benotto. There then followed a mass and a musical concert by the Corale del Duomo directed by Roberta Popolani.
