The renovation work on Palazzo Balduini in Barga Vecchia which started in August of last year as the front of the building had for some time been shedding parts of its plaster facing into the street below. (article here) is now into the final stages. The facade of the Palazzo has been completely renovated and returned close to the condition of its last major renovation ….way back in 1774.
New mouldings around the windows and cornices under the eaves have been created using the traditional method of running metal templates through the rapidly drying gesso – the mondanatura method.
As the work draws to a close speculation is now mounting as to just what will be the final colours of the building.
