Recent paintings by the Barga artist Alba Calamari are on display this week in the gallery at Via di Mezzo 34 Barga Vecchia.
Most of the walls of the gallery are taken up by two large panoramic paintings of Barga from Alba plus some smaller tiny jewel-like paintings featuring some of the smaller comunes in Garfagnana – tiny brushmarks with a shimmering light flooding up from the valley – classic Alba Calamari.
In the same gallery there are a number of stone sculptures from Oliviano Lunardi – another artist who has often shown his work in Barga.
Life follows art – In one of those strange coincidences that sometimes can happen in Barga.
A thunderstorm late this afternoon cleared just as the sun was going down and the horizontal light flooding across Barga Vecchia with dark clouds in the background looked just like the large panoramic paintings that Alba had in her exhibition.
