The Festa del Centro Storico opened this evening in Barga Vecchia with all due Pomp and Circumstance- the band marching, flags flying – and of course, the tricoloured tape that has to be ceremonially cut asunder before the whole thing can start.
At Porta Reale the tape was cut and the 10 days festival of music and just plain enjoying ones self inside the Castle started.
And what a mixed menu it was this evening:
Guitar and accordion in the Piazza Annunziata.
The start of the Tra le Righe di Barga Literary Festival 2008 with Gabriele Caproni the photographer – the first of a full list of guests and events running right through the summer (articles here)
Freshly cooked Bomboloni, the Italian doughnuts at the Scacciaguai (their site is here)
Crepes in Piazza Angelio with the music supplied by some old friends of barganews – the Ratband from Lucca.
A slide show of old photographs from the recent past in Piazza Salvi
Kebabs in the Birreria set up for the festa next to the Scottish Museum
Pasta and barbecue in Vignola near to the Duomo.
