During the night between Saturday and Sunday the clocks go back an hour in Italy. This morning the temperature dropped below freezing for the first time this season and so yes, we are definitely without any shadow of a doubt, well on our way into the winter season.
This means that the events in daily Barga life slow down as people start to move indoors and instead of living outside in the piazzas now tend to stay in front of the fire, stoves or heaters.
News starts to become a bit thin on the ground.
Looking back through the archives of barganews at all the events that took place this summer, one or two stood out as being of interest but for one reason or another were never published. These are “the ones that got away” – so how about publishing one or two before the cold weather really does start to take hold and images of Barga during the summer months would look seriously out of place.

These images and short films were shot in August during the Barga Jazz Festival
Each day the Barga Jazz Orchestra would be in rehearsals in the Teatro preparing for their evening concerts.
They would stop for lunch at midday and one or two of the orchestra would call into Aristo’s bar for a quick jam with Aristodemo Casciani
Marino takes it all in his stride and continues to read his sports paper while all this is taking place.
Nicolao Valiensi and Aristodemo Casciani duet on keyboards and trombone at Aristo’s bar in Barga Vecchia.
