A welcome return to Barga to the Philharmonie “La Lorraine” from Hayange in France who were last here in the city 5 years ago for the twinning ceremony of Hayange and Barga. This time they were here for a concert in their own right .
During the day there was time for a brief open air concert in Piazza Salvi, exchanging gifts between the two Mayors and some refreshment at the L’osteria in Piazza Angelio before the main concert in the Teatro dei Differenti in Barga Vecchia.
The Mayor of Hayange, Philippe David was also present in the theatre this evening to hear the Philharmonie play a mixed repertoire ranging from Verdi, Siegfried Hahn, Fayeulle and even, believe it or not, The Village People.
Once again the orchestra was led by the charismatic Maestro Claude Zimmer although this time he had something new to show the Barghigiani … five Napoleonic drummers in full dress – the tambours.
