A quick check through the barganews archives over the past few years shows that the Lake Angels have been very creative in their methods of raising money for Rwanda .. they range from organising festas, roast chestnut roastings, roast pig days, events, sponsored evenings and during 2008 and 2009 – the very successful Lake Angels Soul Festival.
For 2010 they have come up with a slightly different way of having a good time and raising money for charity at the same time.
At Vignola, just below the Duomo on Barga Vecchia they have built a special viewing platform so that visitors can sit outside and watch ALL the World Cup matches on two large screens.
Adding to the festive occasion the Lake Angels will also be cooking and serving meals with the menu closely connected to who is playing that day. Paella when Spain are playing* – couscous, Algeria’s national dish when they are playing and so on …. one wonders if they will be making braaivleis, pap and jakalaka for the South African dates ??

Well, they did it. Two years ago we first started publishing articles about the Lake Angels project to supply water to families living in Kiruri, Rwanda. Three large water containers – 20.000, 15.000 and 10.000 litres connected to 3 km of tubing are now supplying fresh drinking water to families and schools in Kiruri. – full article here

* Many non-Spaniards view paella as Spain’s national dish, but most Spaniards consider it to be a regional Valencian dish. Valencians, in turn, regard paella as one of their identifying symbols.
