This week an important milestone was passed for the Mayor of Barga, Marco Bonini. He and his administration have been in power in Barga for exactly one year. On the 8th June 2009, we interviewed the man just as he was coming out of Palazzo Pancrazi after the results for the election had just been announced.

This week we returned to Palazzo Pancrazi and instead sat down and talked with the Mayor for 45 minutes on various subjects ranging from projects which have come to or just about to come to fruition, projects for the future and just what he expects for Barga in the coming years.
All this afternoon the votes from the outlying polling stations in the hills around Barga and down at Fornaci di Barga where brought into Barga Vecchia and finally at 5 pm the results were posted up on the wall at Bar Capretz in front of a sizable crowd eager for the news of the day. Would there be an upset and a surprise in store of the inhabitants of Barga? The answer was a fairly predictable “No” As expected, the new mayor of Barga is MARCO BONINI with over 68% of the votes in his favour.
