His daily bulletins have gradually become a “must read article” on giornaledibarganews. Of course we are talking about the Prevision Meteo – the weather forecast from our resident meteorological expert David Sesto. More and more people are turning to David for information about the weather for the next couple of days. Not only are his articles packed with information and are incredibly accurate – no mean feat for an area with its own microclimate and quite often fast changing conditions, but also they are just so well written that believe it or not, they are very entertaining.
In fact, for the last two months, they have been printed up daily and posted outside of Aristo’s bar where they become the topic of much conversation.
The weather right through May has been wonderful in this area with bright sunshine and very little rain …. wonderful that is if you are a tourist or a visitor to the city, not quite so wonderful if you are a gardener or somebody with a vegetable garden as water became scarse but all that changed at the end of the month and as we moved into the first week of June. Down came the rain and it is just kept on coming.
One look at the headlines on David Sesto’s articles and the story is crystal clear. 30th May – weather change in sight, 31st of May – bad weather at the door, 1st June – time for the rain, 2nd June – the festival of instability, 3rd June – the summer will not take off, 4th June – Saturday still unstable worse to come on Sunday morning, 5th June – time for storms.
But, just to show that it is not all bad news and that there is still some “poetry” to be found in amongst all that damp weather – have a look at the short video below which was taken on 5th June from the Duomo in Barga Vecchia as one of those rainstorms swept down the valley. Some advise ? – change the settings to 720p, click full screen and sit back and enjoy one minute and 55 seconds of peaceful and calming images.
