High winds means goats browsing in the tree tops – what kind of headline is that ?
Well, following on from our resident weatherman David Sesto who wrote last night in his forecast: In the next few hours, with the entry of cold air over the sea, which will trigger major storms that will hit more or less all of Tuscany but that will be more active on the northern provinces of Garfagnana, which as often happens in these cases.
Between 9 pm and 12 pm the first rain will fall and will gradually intensify up to heavy rain followed by a definitive improvement with clear skies with moderate to strong north-east winds and temperatures in sharp decline. On Thursday morning, it will be pretty cold for the season, with values lower than 10 degrees. The strong wind from north-east wind will last for the whole of Friday
He was absolutely correct with his forecast with strong winds after heavy rain lashing Barga for most of the night. So where do the goats come into this story?
Quite simply, the heavy rain and strong winds brought down a number of trees in the area behind Barga where the goats browse freely during the daylight hours.
To their obvious delight, they found this morning a number of fresh leaves and shoots to nibble right at goat level.
As you can see in the images and video below, they lost no time in demolishing the fallen trees.

I wonder if their milk yield for the day was increased by the sudden influx of fresh greenery?
