A new forum has just opened on the net called Cansurviving The word cansurviving is the present participle of the verb to survive, an active verb and that is vital.
What this site is
This has been put together initially by someone who received a cancer diagnosis in February 2012 (in this case breast cancer) and decided to collect the researches she has made into what are still called ‘alternatives’ but might also be called ‘traditional’ healing methods into one place for others to tap into if they are on the same path. There are some books which do this, but they tend to reflect one author’s views and exclude some other books/views—this site will aim to be a broad spectrum, will be free to users, and will be built by those using it.
Who is it for?
Anyone interested in seeing what else there may be out there apart from what conventional treatments offer. This is both for use on its own if you eschew the chemo etc route, or as a complementary path which can help with the orthodox side effects and also encourage the body to be a less receptive place for cancer cells to grow…This of course gives no guarantees, is not a panacea, and is merely offering possibilities which you might like to consider. This is your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but only you can walk it for you. Having said that, there are indeed people who remain healthy and happy following these kinds of route. This is bottom line something empowering, and that in itself is an excellent first step.
How can you use it?
You can browse the site under the different headings and hopefully add your own researches as the site develops. The logo says it all- each person’s journey is unique, and you can load up into your little boat anything from here that may be useful to you.
Where can you find the information?
It will be under the headings described below- and these will broaden out as needed along the way. Your ideas will become part of the ongoing growth process. This is a work in progress, as is the whole field of how to tackle this dis-ease, both in the orthodox and non-orthodox fields, however much the orthodox view can prevail as gold standard among its adherents.
How to persuade the Emperor not to strike back…
Siddhartha Mukherjee, an Indian born physician and oncologist, recently wrote a book called ‘The Emperor of all Maladies’ about cancer (and what we put into it: it is the most feared of all diseases )—hence my subtitle here…Welcome to this project—it’s open to all to join in, and let’s see where we go with it…
Ok so you’ve had your cancer diagnosis, what a punch in the guts—then what sets in?
Probably panic, terror, horror, incredulity, hopelessness, despair, even feeling suicidal (many people do)—then comes the question, what to do, which path to choose? What next? Whatever next?
This may be no consolation, but it’s the way everyone feels at the beginning of this episode in your life…
So, which way to go indeed? If you’re choosing Chemo Way—this may not be for you right now but you’re welcome anyway, and it might be something you may consider later, or even want TO try now as a complementary backup to the ‘conventional’ treatments.
I hope you might be interested to explore all the information put together on this site by a number of people, so that their trawling through things for months isn’t wasted, and you don’t have to do it all again…that said, each journey for each person is unique and if that’s a cliché, it’s because it’s said so often but is also true—You may find some contradictory things here –as in the dietary section, is carrot juice a good thing? (Gerson) or bad? (PhDiet)—or is a particular food acid or alkaline? Gerson again says avocados are too oily & cucumbers too salty—but on the Ph Diet they are a mainstay and both v alkaline…etc etc…
You have to pick your way here through all this, but there are also many things that link in together and gather in your thinking so you can start to plan your own path & walk the walk instead of allowing someone else to take responsibility for what happens from now on in your life… there’s a virtual ‘library’ of books here, collated and reviewed, links to different articles about alternatives to the cut/poison/burn protocol on offer through orthodox channels, (and as you may have already found out, most of the orthodox specialist people, couldn’t be less interested for all sorts of reasons in exploring alternatives- GPs are often much more open and interested as many of them see patients as whole people not just a ‘symptom’).
Ok there are some cynical reasons for this lack of interest, like money & the huge but huge profitability for the drug companies in the cancer industry, as well as the now known fact that drug companies have a habit of downplaying or even ignoring evidence that does not back up the claims for their particular drug, but for many medics, it’s what they know. This is what they offer, what many of them genuinely feel is all there is, what they have to live with offering to many and what they can’t face looking away from, even though a neuroscientist recently said on a radio programme that in 50 years we may consider these orthodox cancer treatments we use now to be ‘cruel and barbaric’. But there is a high suicide rate among oncologists. Enough said maybe.
Where can we go from here?
So back to the site…As well as the LIBRARY, (with book reviews),under BODY and DIET there will be a HOMEOPATHY section, a NATUROPATHY section, an ACUPUNCTURE section, a RESEARCH section (research emerges all the time and this will need updating quite regularly- there is someone who is interested in contributing to this particularly), then a MUSIC, SONG AND DANCE AND LAUGHTER AS MEDICINE section, as part of the SPIRIT AND MIND section, and whatever else develops along the way. Oh yes and as Marianne Moore the American poet said in her poem The Pangolin: ‘humour saves a few steps.. it saves years’—so there’ll be a LAUGHTER AS MEDICINE section too. All this will be evolving as we go, you can contribute to it, once it’s up and running with different categories sorted out, and hopefully we’ll build a huge resource for those less far on the journey to tap into… This journey of yours can help others too.
