The tailors SANTI ALBINO in via A.Mordini in Barga Vecchia has this week shut its doors for the very last time.
The business was started in 1946 by Albino’s uncle Pieri Vincenzo and right through the decades from the 50’s until the 70’s there were eight tailors and seamstresses employed in the firm.
In Barga during those hectic years there were also other tailors working full time to provide trousers, shirts and suits to their waiting customers, L’Endro Pedrigi, il Fedi, il Puccini and il Guidi at Catagnana but the arrival of off the peg mass produced suits and clothing gradually changed all that until the final tailor left standing was Albino Santi.
Albino, his wife Mara and with the help of Ivana Biagi continued for as long as was possible with their venture, now it is no more but they want to greet and thank all their customers and clients with affection and friendship as they now move into a well earned retirement.
The end of an era for Barga.
