Margaret Moore talking about Cozy Mystery Fiction

Voltiamo pagina – letture barghigiane is the review dedicated to books and writers related to this territory organised by the Municipality of Barga, Tralerighe publishers, Pro Loco Barga, Unitre Barga and Cento Lumi association.

This week the guest author was Margaret Moore who talked about the series of books – The Tuscan Termination and just what was Cozy Mystery Fiction.

She is not a new name for readers of  barganews as we published articles about her books back in 2008  and 2009

Cozy mysteries, also referred to as “cozies”, are a subgenre of crime fiction in which sex and violence occur off stage, the detective is an amateur sleuth, and the crime and detection take place in a small, socially intimate community.

In beautiful Tuscany, life seemed like a golden paradise with the picturesque rolling hills, the luscious food and wine, and the warmth of the local people. Then they found the body…

Murder simply doesn’t happen in the lovely Tuscan hill town of Borgo San Cristoforo, not even to unpleasant, unscrupulous real estate agents like Ettore Fagiolo. Found floating facedown in a swimming pool, the gossip is that Ettore was blind drunk, and drowned. The alternative is unthinkable.

But a crushed skull proves otherwise. Hilary Wright first spotted the body from her bedroom window. Now, along with several other English expatriates, as well as many locals who had secret reasons to loathe Ettore, she is a suspect. Worse, she had her own dark reason to want Ettore dead. Drawn into the investigation to save her neck, Hilary and Dr. Ruggero Di Girolamo, the magistrate in charge of the case, discover the depraved, twisted life of the victim, and the surprising face of his killer.

Hilary Wright finds Ettore Fagiolo, a flamboyant local real estate agent, floating in Nigel and Robin Proctor’s ugly, pink swimming pool. When the magistrate in charge of the case declares Ettore’s death to be a murder, Hilary finds herself drawn into the investigation. At first she’s a suspect, then she becomes the vital link between the police and the scandalous ex-pat community.

Tuscan Termination is perfect for fans of Shari Lapena and Agatha Christie.

Margaret Moore was born in London, England, but has spent all her adult life in Italy where she lives with her Italian husband, large family and seven cats, and works as a freelance translator and interpreter.

Tuscan Termination is the first novel in a series set in the fictional hill-town, Borgo San Cristoforo, in Tuscany, and featuring Dr. Ruggero di Girolamo.
