The informative and educational video, made by the Ricci Foundation, with the collaboration of the Historical Institute of Lucchese, section of Barga, of the Municipality of Barga, the Arciconfraternita di Misericordia of Barga and edited by the photographer Caterina Salvi, is concentrated on the life and works by Dr. Pietro Tallinucci, patriot, philanthropist, doctor, founder of the Hospital of Barga, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth.
The video collects, in addition to the greetings of Cristiana Ricci President of the Foundation and the Mayor of Barga, Caterina Campani, the interventions of Sara Moscardini with an introduction to the character of the man, Maria Pia Baroncelli who illustrates the relations of the Barghigiani patriots with the Italian Freemasonry and Pier Giuliano Cecchi who talks about the close relations of Tallinucci with the Arciconfraternita di Misericordia of Barga.
Pietro Tallinucci is remembered for having been a patriot in the years of the Risorgimento with his brothers Gaetano and Luigi.
He was a philanthropist physician particularly sensitive to the needs of the needy, an active member of many associations in Barghigiana such as the Archconfraternity of Mercy, the Brotherhood, the Barga Band and the Società Reduci delle Patrie Battaglie.
However, what his fellow citizens still remember today is the spirit of service for the community that earned him the reputation of a philanthropist: “man who lived for humanity”, according to an article published in the “Eco del Serchio” in the occasion of his death in 1884.
The monument dedicated to him, adorned with the civic coat of arms, was initially placed outside Porta Reale and solemnly inaugurated on the 26th of June 1887.
It was subsequently moved and is now situated outside the Barga Hospital which was founded by Pietro Tallinucci in 1849.
Il video divulgativo e didattico, realizzato dalla Fondazione Ricci, con la collaborazione dell’Istituto Storico Lucchese, sezione di Barga, del Comune di Barga, dell’Arciconfraternita di Misericordia di Barga, curato dalla fotografa Caterina Salvi, vuol ricordare la vita e le opere del dott. Pietro Tallinucci, patriota, filantropo, medico, fondatore dell’Ospedale di Barga, in occasione della ricorrenza dei 200 anni dalla nascita. Il video raccoglie, oltre ai saluti di Cristiana Ricci Presidente della Fondazione e del Sindaco di Barga Caterina Campani, gli interventi di Sara Moscardini con un’introduzione al personaggio, Maria Pia Baroncelli che illustra i rapporti dei patrioti barghigiani con la massoneria italiana e Pier Giuliano Cecchi che espone gli stretti rapporti di Tallinucci con la Arciconfraternita di Misericordia di Barga.
Pietro Tallinucci è ricordato per essere stato patriota negli anni del Risorgimento coi fratelli Gaetano e Luigi, medico filantropo particolarmente sensibile alle esigenze dei bisognosi, attivo membro di tante realtà associative barghigiane come l’Arciconfraternita di Misericordia, la Fratellanza, la Banda musicale e la Società Reduci delle Patrie Battaglie. Quello che però ricordano ancora oggi i suoi concittadini è lo spirito di servizio per la comunità che gli ha valso la fama di filantropo: “uomo che visse per l’umanità”, così lo definì un articolo apparso sull’”Eco del Serchio” in occasione della sua scomparsa nel 1884. Il monumento a lui dedicato, fregiato dello stemma civico, fu posto inizialmente fuori Porta Reale ed inaugurato solennemente il 26 giugno 1887. Oggi si trova, dopo il suo spostamento, all’interno dell’Ospedale di Barga essendo stato Pietro Tallinucci , il fondatore del primo nucleo nel 1849.
