The island of Procida is located in the Gulf of Naples about 3.4 km from the mainland and is part, together with Ischia, Nisida and Vivara, of the archipelago of the Flegrean islands located in the central Tyrrhenian Sea.
This year it is the Italian capital of culture 2022 using the byline “Culture never isolates”
This evening at the Sala Suffredini in Castelnuovo Garfagnana two local artists, Fabrizio Da Prato e Marco Savoli presented their project which links this small island off the coast of Naples with this area.

They started with the idea of following water flowing from Garfagnana into the Serchio river which then flows down to the sea and then across to Procida.
A conceptual linking, a conceptual journey involving many stops and starts along the way. The presentation in Castelnuovo being just the start of the journey.
“Procida sarebbe una capitale della cultura sovversiva perché in grado di mettere in discussione (sovvertire) la nostra concezione dello spazio e delle connessioni che lo strutturano. Metterebbe in discussione immaginari, svelerebbe complessità fin qui non ragionate e porrebbe sul piatto la sfida cruciale della sostenibilità.”
