The tree that was cut down was a beautiful, mature specimen that has stood tall for many years, providing shade, habitat for wildlife, and a scenic backdrop above the medieval walls of the Fosso in Barga Vecchia . However, its days of standing tall had come to an end and it was deemed a danger to the community.
The tree surgeon, with his chainsaw in hand, had been tasked with the delicate and dangerous job of taking down the tree, piece by piece.
As he worked, a small crowd had gathered in the car park below to watch the tree come down.
Some mentioned their sadness, realising that a part of the town’s natural beauty was being lost. Others thought that the tree was being removed before it caused harm to anyone or anything. Regardless of their perspectives, all were in agreement that the tree surgeon was doing a commendable job, taking down the tree in a safe and controlled manner.
