This afternoon a series of events took place dedicated to the “International Women’s Rights Day” proposed by the Equal Opportunities Commission of the Barga comune in collaboration with the Arcadia Painting School and Unitre Barga.
In Palazzo Pancrazi in the historic center of Barga, the exhibition “Profumo di donna” by students of the Arcadia Painting School dedicated to the female figure, which will remain open throughout the month of March.
The third conference in the series “Women and Science” proposed by Unitre Barga took place online.
Professor Veronica Poggi talked about the historical origin of the date chosen for International Women’s Day, officially established in 1977 but actually celebrated since 1907 in America.
During the conference, achievements in space by Samantha Cristoforetti and discoveries made at CERN in Geneva by Fabiola Gianotti were also examined.
During the meeting, ample space was also devoted to the narration of negative personal experiences because stereotypes and prejudices were unfortunately still part of our daily lives.
The meetings, held by Professor Veronica Poggi online on the Google Meet platform, were free and open to everyone.
