Nove mesi di MURF – Museo multimediale Rocche e Fortificazioni Valle del Serchio, tra tradizione e modernità nel segno del successo: nuovi percorsi e sinergie per un luogo (ri)scoperto dal grande pubblico.
A proporre un bilancio dei mesi appena trascorsi è Lucia Morelli, direttrice del museo.
Abbiamo assistito a un notevole incremento delle visite – spiega -, alla nascita di nuove sinergie e alla creazione di molte attività specifiche. L’attivazione di nuovi percorsi, mostre tematiche e laboratori, ha portato alla realizzazione di un calendario di attività volto alla valorizzazione del museo e dei suoi contenuti. Un’operazione che ha permesso di far riappropriare e far conoscere agli utenti locali il museo che appartiene e parla del territorio e di far scoprire agli utenti esterni il patrimonio culturale della Valle del Serchio. – Lucia Morelli, direttrice del museo.
Nei novi mesi appena conclusi, grazie anche al rinnovamento della strumentazione a disposizione del museo, il Murf ha organizzato visite guidate per adulti, scuole e bambini. In particolare, è stata attivata la sinergia con le scuole di ogni ordine e grado attraverso anche laboratori tematici: oltre 600, infatti, i bambini e i ragazzi che si sono recati al museo con la scuola.
La presenza del Murf è un valore aggiunto alla proposta culturale di Barga. Un luogo dove tradizione e modernità si uniscono e guardano insieme alle nuove generazioni: vedere quanto successo stia riscontrando questa iniziativa ci conferma circa la validità di aver voluto affidare questo spazio a una realtà ben radicata nel territorio che ci sta consentendo di far conoscere il museo a tantissime persone” – la sindaca Caterina Campani
È stata inoltre avviata la collaborazione con l’Università di Pisa per l’inserimento del museo nel dibattito culturale internazionale d’eccellenza. Grazie alla sinergia con il dipartimento DESTeC ingegneria dell’energia, dei sistemi, del territorio, delle costruzioni Università di Pisa, il Murf ha preso parte all’evento FORTMED, conferenza internazionale delle fortezze del Mediterraneo.
E ancora: tanti eventi e collaborazioni, come quella per la valorizzazione del Canto del Maggio, le letture per bambini insieme a Nati per Leggere, le aperture straordinarie per la giornata dei piccoli musei, San Valentino e tanto altro.
Accanto a queste iniziative si pongono poi le mostre, come “Artificial Intelligence. Volti di un passato onirico” di Marcantonio Lunardi, organizzata e prodotta da Venti d’Arte APS con il patrocinio del Comune di Barga e del Sistema Museale territoriale della provincia di Lucca.
Nell’ottica dell’accrescimento dei contenuti, il museo ha arricchito la sua collezione grazie alla donazione, da parte di Fabrizio Riva e del Comune di Gallicano, del pannello che riproduce la tarsia lignea raffigurate l’antica rocca di Gallicano.
E infine, insieme all’artista Keane, il Murf sta lavorando a un percorso/installazione artistica temporanea nel centro storico di Barga, oltre alla realizzazione della nuova “cartellonistica” che indica il percorso di arrivo al museo.
Fino al 29 ottobre il MURF museo apre le sue porte ai visitatori gratuitamente ogni sabato e domenica mattina dalle 10.30 alle 12.30. Un’iniziativa per favorire la conoscenza culturale della Valle del Serchio e far sì che il museo diventi spazio di cittadinanza e di identità collettiva.

Nine months of MURF – Multimedia Museum of Rocche and Fortifications in the Serchio Valley, bridging tradition and modernity towards success: new paths and synergies for a (re)discovered place by the general public.
Lucia Morelli, the museum’s director, offers an overview of the recently concluded months.
We have witnessed a significant increase in visits,” she explains, “the birth of new synergies, and the creation of many specific activities. The activation of new routes, thematic exhibitions, and workshops has led to the development of an activity calendar aimed at enhancing the museum and its contents. This operation has allowed the local users to reclaim and get to know the museum that belongs to and speaks of the territory and to introduce the external users to the cultural heritage of the Serchio Valley. – Lucia Morelli, museum director.
In the past nine months, thanks to the museum’s upgraded equipment, MURF has organized guided tours for adults, schools, and children. Particularly, a synergy was established with schools of all levels, including thematic workshops, with over 600 children and students visiting the museum with their schools.
The presence of MURF is an added value to Barga’s cultural offerings. It is a place where tradition and modernity come together and look towards the new generations. Seeing the success of this initiative confirms the wisdom of entrusting this space to a well-rooted local institution that is allowing us to introduce the museum to a large number of people, – Mayor Caterina Campani.
Furthermore, collaboration with the University of Pisa has been initiated to integrate the museum into the international cultural debate of excellence. Thanks to the synergy with the Department of DESTeC (Energy, Systems, Territory, and Construction Engineering) at the University of Pisa, MURF participated in FORTMED, an international conference on Mediterranean fortresses.
There have also been numerous events and collaborations, such as the promotion of the Canto del Maggio, readings for children with Nati per Leggere, special openings for Small Museums Day, Valentine’s Day, and more.
In addition to these initiatives, there are exhibitions such as “Artificial Intelligence. Faces of a Dreamlike Past” by Marcantonio Lunardi, organised and produced by Venti d’Arte APS with the sponsorship of the Comune of Barga and the Territorial Museum System of the Province of Lucca.
With the goal of expanding its content, the museum has enriched its collection with a donation from Fabrizio Riva and the Municipality of Gallicano, a wooden marquetry panel depicting the ancient fortress of Gallicano.
Lastly, in collaboration with the artist Keane, MURF is working on a temporary artistic installation in the historic center of Barga, along with the creation of new signage indicating the route to the museum.
Until October 29th, the MURF museum opens its doors to visitors for free every Saturday and Sunday morning from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This initiative aims to promote cultural awareness of the Serchio Valley and make the museum a space of citizenship and collective identity.”
