Storytelling – A new exhibition in the InComune gallery on Barga Vecchia curated by Gianguido Grassi and with the collaboration of Kerry Bell was opened this week heralding a new start to the artistic season in Barga.
The exhibition contains a series of works from the private collection of Gianguido Grassi featuring established artists in the field of contemporary art and the international urban scene.

From its expressive form of protest, street art has now emerged as a global artistic movement, transcending the street to reach the most prestigious museums in the world, while simultaneously appearing in unconventional urban spaces.
In fact some of those unconventional urban spaces are local as murals are already being painted further up the valley in Garfagnana.

There are many personal attitudes and plenty are the artistic conclusions of an already vast phenomenon in geographical terms; this is why it is not easy to define and move inside a container that has as certain elements in common that of gathering artists who begin to paint spontaneously in the urban context and the convergence of the energy of the street with the creative component.
With the expression urban art, an attempt was made to create a container capable of collecting various experiences that have alternated over time and continue to coexist today.
Simplifying, we could identify 3 main categories: Graffiti Writing, Street art and Neo Muralism, which in turn branches off into figurative and abstract art.
It is increasingly clear to me that art is not an elitist activity for the appreciation of a few. Art is for everyone, and this is the goal I want to work for – Keith Haring
Keith Haring was one the first artists to overcome the hard and pure line, opening a new perspective capable of combining the creative energy of Writers and the iconographic strength of pop art: he brought together the two great artistic components which -from apparently opposite and irreconcilable sides- (the DownTown and the UpTown) having as epicenter New York city where Haring moved in 1978, joining with JM Basquiat from the Andy Warhol’s Factory.

Storytelling – Una nuova mostra nella galleria InComune di Barga Vecchia, curata da Gianguido Grassi e con la collaborazione di Kerry Bell, è stata aperta questa settimana, annunciando un nuovo inizio per la stagione artistica a Barga.
La mostra contiene una serie di opere della collezione privata di Gianguido Grassi, che presenta artisti affermati nel campo dell’arte contemporanea e della scena urbana internazionale.

Dalla sua forma espressiva di protesta, l’arte di strada è emersa ora come un movimento artistico globale, trascendendo la strada per raggiungere i musei più prestigiosi del mondo, mentre appare contemporaneamente in spazi urbani non convenzionali.
Infatti, alcuni di questi spazi urbani non convenzionali sono locali, poiché i murales vengono già dipinti più in alto nella valle della Garfagnana.

Ci sono molte attitudini personali e molte sono le conclusioni artistiche di un fenomeno già vasto in termini geografici; ecco perché non è facile definire e muoversi all’interno di un contenitore che ha come elementi certi il raduno di artisti che iniziano a dipingere spontaneamente nel contesto urbano e la convergenza dell’energia della strada con il componente creativo.
Con l’espressione “arte urbana”, si è tentato di creare un contenitore in grado di raccogliere varie esperienze che si sono alternate nel tempo e continuano a coesistere oggi.
Semplificando, potremmo identificare 3 categorie principali: Graffiti Writing, Street art e Neo Muralism, che a loro volta si ramificano in arte figurativa e astratta.

Keith Haring è stato uno dei primi artisti a superare la linea dura e pura, aprendo una nuova prospettiva capace di combinare l’energia creativa dei Writers e la forza iconografica della pop art: ha riunito i due grandi componenti artistici che, da apparentemente opposti e inconciliabili (il DownTown e l’UpTown), hanno come epicentro la città di New York dove Haring si trasferì nel 1978, unendosi a JM Basquiat dalla Factory di Andy Warhol.
