The main promoters of this idea were the members of the local football team Gatti Randagi, already closely linked to Celtic F.C. of Glasgow, even sharing their green and white colours and Declan Walsh, an Irishman from Dublin who had fallen in love with Barga and made it his home.
He decided to turn the idea into reality by involving the Gatti Randagi, long considered one of the best teams in the AICS first amateur division, and Glenmuir Utd F.C., the Irish team he supports back in Ireland.
This gave birth to the Heritage Cup, a triangular football tournament held on Sunday, 1st June, at the Impero pitch in Castelvecchio Pascoli, also featuring another green-and-white (Celtic-coloured) team: Farafulla FC, from Lunigiana.
The Heritage Cup is a football tournament designed to give smaller clubs—those that rarely get the chance to compete—the opportunity to take part in a meaningful competition. But it’s about more than just football.
It’s also about bringing people to Barga, offering them a chance to experience the city, and connecting supporters through the shared love of the game.

I principali promotori di questa iniziativa sono stati i membri della squadra di calcio locale Gatti Randagi, già strettamente legati al Celtic F.C. di Glasgow, di cui condividono anche i colori bianco e verde, e Declan Walsh, un irlandese di Dublino che si è innamorato di Barga al punto da farne la sua casa.
È stato lui a decidere di trasformare l’idea in realtà, coinvolgendo i Gatti Randagi, da tempo considerati una delle migliori squadre della prima divisione amatoriale AICS, e il Glenmuir Utd F.C., la squadra irlandese che sostiene nel suo paese natale.
Da qui è nata la Heritage Cup, un triangolare di calcio che si è svolto domenica 1° giugno al campo Impero di Castelvecchio Pascoli, e che ha visto la partecipazione anche di un’altra squadra bianco-verde (colori del Celtic): il Farafulla FC, proveniente dalla Lunigiana.
