La “caccia” inizia all’albeggiare e si protrae fino a quando le gambe mi sorreggono. I palcoscenici sono i più disparati. Si va dai deserti del Marocco o dell’Iran, ai musei di Parigi o Londra, ed ancora, da alcuni dei decadenti palazzi dell’Avana, ad una futuristica discoteca della Corea del Sud.
Questi sono solamente alcuni dei sipari offerti delle oltre venti nazioni in cui sono andato alla ricerca anche di me stesso. Ho trovato uomini, donne, bambini che cercano, nel silenzio, la propria essenza. Sono momenti di introspezione che diventano riflessi del nostro tempo.
Luoghi dove il brusio della vita quotidiana, spesso sovrasta la luce interiore. Gli sguardi delle persone che ritraggo, sono urla silenziose, una richiesta di attenzione a quella parte di noi ormai priva di empatia. E così, in questo viaggio tra frontiere e paesaggi, ho raccolto non solo immagini ma anche storie nascoste.
Ogni persona ha una narrazione unica che si cela in profondità, in attesa di essere compresa. Queste immagini sono finestre aperte su mondi interiori, desiderose di attrarre chi li osserva in un invito a riflettere sull’isolamento che abitiamo. In questa danza di sguardi ed atteggiamenti, mi sono accorto che le parole sono superflue gli occhi comunicano più delle parole.
Dalla solitudine di queste persone, apparentemente fragili, emana una forza che affascina ed intriga, e da cui nasce una ricerca, in cui ognuno è cacciatore e preda. Spero che questi scatti silenziosi possano raggiungere l’animo di tanti, suscitando una riflessione sull’intimo significato dell’isolamento in un’epoca sempre più connessa. Andrea Alfieri

The “hunt” begins at dawn and continues until my legs can no longer carry me. The stages are the most diverse: from the deserts of Morocco or Iran, to the museums of Paris or London, from the crumbling palaces of Havana to a futuristic nightclub in South Korea. These are only some of the backdrops across more than twenty countries where I have also searched for myself.
I encountered men, women, and children who, in silence, seek their own essence. Moments of introspection that become reflections of our time. Places where the murmur of daily life often overwhelms the inner light. The gazes of the people I portray are silent cries, a call for attention to that part of us that has grown devoid of empathy. And so, in this journey through borders and landscapes,
I gathered not only images but also hidden stories. Every person holds a unique narrative concealed deep within, waiting to be understood. These images are open windows onto inner worlds, longing to draw in those who look upon them—an invitation to reflect on the isolation we inhabit.
In this dance of gazes and gestures, I realised that words are superfluous—eyes communicate more than speech. From the solitude of these people, seemingly fragile, emanates a strength that both fascinates and intrigues, giving rise to a search in which each of us is both hunter and prey.
I hope that these silent shots may reach the soul of many, stirring reflection on the intimate meaning of isolation in an age ever more connected. Andrea Alfieri
