Fornaci di Barga – The “San Cristoforo d’Oro” Finds Its Home
The San Cristoforo d’Oro – the honour awarded last July by the Comune di Barga to the organisers of Fornaci senza frontiere – has found a new and fitting home.
This morning, in Fornaci di Barga, the golden statuette was carried in procession into the Chiesa del Cristo Redentore, where it was blessed by don Giovanni and placed in its new permanent position: high on the wall of the church, overlooking the congregation.
The ceremony unfolded with quiet dignity. Members of the organising group brought the statue forward as the community gathered to witness the moment as Don Giovanni conducted the blessing with a few simple words and the traditional sprinkling of holy water.
Afterwards, the statuette was carefully lifted into place on a small wooden shelf fixed into the wall of the church.
Fornaci senza frontiere itself remains one of the most meaningful community events held in Fornaci in recent years. Organised primarily by the Parish of Fornaci and the local Sports Union, it was conceived as a celebration of both memory and possibility: an event rooted in the traditions of the past but looking firmly towards the future. It aimed to strengthen the sense of belonging within the four historic rioni of Fornaci, rekindling local identity and unity.
The award of the San Cristoforo d’Oro acknowledged the enormous effort and dedication of all those who brought Fornaci senza frontiere to life. The placement of the statue within the church this morning gives that recognition a lasting physical presence – a symbol not only of the honour received, but of the renewed community spirit it represents.
Inside the Cristo Redentore, the golden figure now stands quietly above the faithful, a reminder of the work done, the unity achieved, and the future that Fornaci continues to build together.

Fornaci di Barga – Il “San Cristoforo d’Oro” trova la sua casa
Il San Cristoforo d’Oro – il riconoscimento assegnato lo scorso luglio dal Comune di Barga agli organizzatori di Fornaci senza frontiere – ha trovato una nuova e degna collocazione.
Questa mattina, a Fornaci di Barga, la statuetta dorata è stata portata in processione nella Chiesa del Cristo Redentore, dove è stata benedetta da don Giovanni e collocata nella sua nuova posizione permanente: in alto sulla parete della chiesa, affacciata sulla congregazione.
La cerimonia si è svolta con sobria dignità. I membri del gruppo organizzatore hanno portato avanti la statua mentre la comunità si riuniva per assistere al momento, e don Giovanni ha impartito la benedizione con poche parole e il tradizionale aspersione di acqua benedetta.
Successivamente, la statuetta è stata sollevata con cura e posizionata su una piccola mensola di legno fissata alla parete della chiesa.
Fornaci senza frontiere rimane uno degli eventi comunitari più significativi che si siano tenuti a Fornaci negli ultimi anni. Organizzato principalmente dalla Parrocchia di Fornaci e dall’Unione Sportiva locale, è stato concepito come una celebrazione della memoria e della possibilità: un evento radicato nelle tradizioni del passato ma proiettato con decisione verso il futuro. Il suo obiettivo era rafforzare il senso di appartenenza all’interno dei quattro storici rioni fornacini, riaccendendo identità e unità.
L’assegnazione del San Cristoforo d’Oro ha riconosciuto il grande impegno e la dedizione di tutti coloro che hanno dato vita a Fornaci senza frontiere. La collocazione della statua all’interno della chiesa questa mattina conferisce a quel riconoscimento una presenza fisica duratura – un simbolo non solo dell’onore ricevuto, ma anche dello spirito comunitario rinnovato che rappresenta.
All’interno del Cristo Redentore, la figura dorata ora veglia silenziosa sui fedeli, un promemoria del lavoro compiuto, dell’unità raggiunta e del futuro che Fornaci continua a costruire insieme.
