In an unusual approach to rehearsing for this afternoon’s concert, students from the Barga Music School chose to take their music out of the classroom and into the heart of the city.
A week ago, in Barga Vecchia, six mandolin players and seven guitarists temporarily transformed Barga’s unofficial cultural centre — Da Aristo — into an open rehearsal space. Chairs were moved, instrument cases opened, and for a while the familiar bar became a place of concentrated practice and shared sound.
Under the guidance of their tutors, mandolin teacher Alessandro Rizzardi and guitar tutor JJ Cardelli, the students worked through their repertoire surrounded by the everyday life of the piazza. Locals and passers-by were offered a rare glimpse into the rehearsal process itself — the repetitions, adjustments and quiet moments that normally happen out of sight.
It was a rehearsal that blurred the line between preparation and performance, bringing music directly to the people well before the concert itself.
And this afternoon that concert did take place at the RSA Belvedere in Barga Vecchia, thanks to the Insieme al Gruppo Corde Libere and the Commissione Pari Opportunità.

Con un approccio insolito alle prove per il concerto di questo pomeriggio, gli studenti della Scuola di Musica di Barga hanno scelto di portare la musica fuori dall’aula e nel cuore della città.
Una settimana fa, a Barga Vecchia, sei mandolinisti e sette chitarristi hanno trasformato temporaneamente il centro culturale “non ufficiale” di Barga — Da Aristo — in uno spazio di prove aperto. Sedie spostate, custodie aperte e, per un po’, il bar di sempre è diventato un luogo di concentrazione, studio e suono condiviso.
Guidati dai loro insegnanti, il docente di mandolino Alessandro Rizzardi e il docente di chitarra JJ Cardelli, gli studenti hanno lavorato sul repertorio immersi nella vita quotidiana della piazza. I passanti e gli abituali frequentatori hanno così potuto assistere a uno scorcio raro del processo di preparazione — tra ripetizioni, aggiustamenti e quei momenti di silenzio che normalmente restano lontani dal pubblico.
È stata una prova capace di sfumare il confine tra preparazione ed esibizione, portando la musica direttamente tra la gente molto prima del concerto vero e proprio.
E questo pomeriggio il concerto si è poi svolto presso la RSA Belvedere di Barga Vecchia, grazie all’Insieme al Gruppo Corde Libere e alla Commissione Pari Opportunità.
