A rescue operation was carried out on Mount Rondinaio after a man slipped along the ridge and was unable to continue walking.
The incident occurred at around 2:00 pm on 1 May in the comune of Coreglia Antelminelli, in a mountainous area close to the border with Emilia-Romagna.
The injured man, believed to be in his fifties, was located on the crest of the mountain by members of the Tuscan Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service from the Lucca station.
Despite strong winds complicating the operation, rescuers were able to reach him and assess his condition. He had sustained injuries to his lower limbs, though these were not considered severe.
Given the difficult terrain, the regional helicopter rescue service, Pegaso, was deployed. A helicopter technician was lowered to the site, while an additional rescue team was prepared for transport from Gioviano. Support was also requested from the Alpine Rescue Service of Emilia-Romagna.
The man was stabilised at the scene and airlifted to hospital in Massa for further treatment.

Un intervento di soccorso è stato effettuato sul monte Rondinaio dopo che un uomo è scivolato lungo la cresta, rimanendo impossibilitato a proseguire a piedi. L’incidente è avvenuto intorno alle 14:00 del 1° maggio, nel territorio comunale di Coreglia Antelminelli, in una zona montuosa al confine con l’Emilia-Romagna.
L’uomo, di circa cinquant’anni, è stato individuato sulla cresta dai tecnici del Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico Toscano, stazione di Lucca. Nonostante il forte vento abbia reso più complesso l’intervento, i soccorritori sono riusciti a raggiungerlo e a valutarne le condizioni. Ha riportato traumi agli arti inferiori, non giudicati gravi.
Data la difficoltà dell’area, è stato attivato anche l’elisoccorso regionale Pegaso, che ha provveduto a sbarcare sul posto un tecnico. Una squadra di soccorso è stata predisposta per l’imbarco da Gioviano, mentre è stato richiesto anche il supporto del Soccorso Alpino Emilia-Romagna.
L’uomo è stato stabilizzato sul posto e successivamente elitrasportato all’ospedale di Massa per ulteriori accertamenti.
