Finally after two days of torrential rain falling on this area, this morning the clouds parted and believe it or not the sun actually came out for a while and so now a clearer view of some of the damage done to the Valley del Serchio comes into focus.
Further up the valley in Garfagnana there have been numerous landslips blocking the roads, most of which have now been cleared but at Pieve Fosciana the road to Sillico, Bargecchia and Capraia is still blocked.
On the other side of the valley at Molazzana the only road into the village is via Monteperpoli and there have been reports of landslides causing problems at Fiatone in the Comune of Gallicano.
Here in the Comune of Barga there are still problems on the roads up to Albiano but the main point of interest has been up on the old road to Renaio and in particular at Piaggiagrande where a massive landslide during the night covering more than 300 metres has meant that two houses have had to be evacuated and emergency services are closely monitoring the situation.
All eyes are now on the weather forecast as if more rain is expected, the already sodden ground will no longer resist the force of gravity and will be on the move once again.
