As most people are now aware we have had the dampest winter on record so far in this area with constant rain causing landslides, blocked roads, damaged houses and a feeling right through the valley that somehow nature is working against us.
All in all, a particularly negative time and we are just at the start February with still a good deal of the winter in front of us.
So is there anything positive coming out of this damp and dismal situation?
Well really depends on your point of view, but yes if you look hard there are some things going on which you wouldn’t normally see on a bright sunny day.
Take for instance the Duomo in Barga, the constant rain did stop for an hour or two this morning leaving the stonework of the building glistening with water and some stunning colours coming through which most visitors to Barga would never see.
Whether or not these colours were bright enough or stunning enough to actually be defined as a “silver lining” to what is after all a particularly miserable time in Barga, really depends on your own mindset.
