The distance between the rich and poor is so great that they might as well live in separate universes. Land has been abandoned as it is too expensive to farm; gone are the sheep and shepherds. In many places, fruit rots on the trees. In the towns and villages, bars, shops and restaurants have closed. There is no point in staying open when taxation exceeds profit.

Anna Lord was born in Finland. Before the age of eighteen she had already lived in five different European countries. Her nomadic lifestyle influenced her strong interest in learning languages and embracing new cultures. Anna is fiercely independent and is an active speaker when discussing current affairs. She settled in Italy where she met her husband, an artist from the south of the country, and had two children. Anna is also an artist and she specialises in painting and jewellery.
