Today the 17th June is St. Ranieri, the patron saint of Pisa.
For this occasion the Barga bell ringers were invited to ring the bells on what is probably the most famous tower in the world – The leaning tower of Pisa
It is no longer possible to ring the bells using ropes as the momentum of the swinging bells might endanger the stability of the tower but they can still be played using the clapper against the side of the bell – which is precisely how they were played today.
Oggi a Pisa si festeggiava S. Ranieri, patrono della città.
Sotto la sapiente regia di Giuseppe Bernini, componente della commissione di arte sacra della diocesi e ispettore del ministero dei beni culturali per la tutela delle campane e dei campanili nelle provincie di Pisa,Lucca, Livorno e Massa Carrara, si è svolto quello che da tre anni rappresenta un evento unico per la torre di Pisa.
Un giorno all’anno la torre torna a rivivere degli antichi fasti con il suono manuale delle campane, i turisti di tutto il mondo possono assistere così ad una dimostrazione di varie tipologie di suonata a tre o quattro campane.
