Important new development regarding the BargaJazz festival. Section D, dedicated to new upcoming groups, has evolved into the BargaJazz Contest.
For over twenty years the Jazz Festival in Barga has witnessed hundreds of young musicians passing through the Teatro dei Differenti in search of a showcase in the field of Jazz music. It is not unusual to see a mention of the BargaJazz Festival in the curriculum of the most important Italian Jazz musicians.
Here are the changes for 2010. The selection stages will be articulated in such a way so as to give participants several opportunities to present themselves. Following a first selection based as always on the recordings sent in, the ensembles will perform live during the course of four evenings of concerts held at the BargaJazz Club between April and May 2010.
The four groups which are awarded the highest score by the jury will then perform once more during the course of the BargaJazz Festival which will take place at the end of August.
The winning group will receive a cash prize of € 2.000 whilst, as is the case every year, the “Luca Flores” prize in memory of the exceptional Florentine pianist who was a member of the BargaJazz Orchestra during its early editions will be assigned to the best soloist from all the groups in the competition.
The deadline for applications to participate in the BargaJazz Contest 2010 is the 29th of March and the new regulations are published on the www.bargajazz.it website.
