A large forest fire has broken out in the mountains to the west of Barga in Garfagnana with the sky in that part of the area now full of dense plumes of white and grey smoke.
A helicopter can be seen driving in through the smoke dumping water in an attempt to dominate the flames.
Luckily the high winds which are been prevalent over the last two days have to a certain extent died down.
