Puccini, Verdi, Scottish folk and Ennio Morricone: In Canto The Lucchesi nel Mondo concert as part of the Barga Scottish Festival took place at the Teatro dei Differenti in Barga Vecchia. Puccini, Verdi, Scottish folk and Ennio Morricone: in Barga, the “In Canto” concert by the Lucchesi nel Mondo association brought to the Teatro dei Differenti a musical journey that united opera and folk tradition for the Barga Scottish Festival under the artistic direction of director Vivien Hewitt, who curated the presentation of the evening with the participation of the official delegation from Glasgow led by the Lord Provost Jacqueline MacLaren
On stage were the tenor Sean Ruane and the soprano Celeste Nardi, accompanied on piano by Maestro Andrea Tobia. Also protagonists for the evening – oboist William Moriconi and the Barga soprano Celeste Nardi. This year the musical event that Lucchesi nel Mondo traditionally offered in September was held in Barga, as a tribute to an area that gave a fundamental contribution to the history of emigration.
The concert, organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Barga, the Barga Scots association and the Barga Civic School of Music, and supported by the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, the Banca del Monte di Lucca Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, featured leading artists connected to the area and to the programme, under the artistic direction of director Vivien Hewitt, who curated the presentation of the evening.

Puccini, Verdi, folk scozzese ed Ennio Morricone: In Canto Il concerto dei Lucchesi nel Mondo, nell’ambito del Barga Scottish Festival, si è svolto al Teatro dei Differenti in Barga Vecchia. Puccini, Verdi, folk scozzese ed Ennio Morricone: a Barga, il concerto “In Canto” dell’associazione Lucchesi nel Mondo — con la partecipazione della delegazione ufficiale di Glasgow guidata dalla Lord Provost Jacqueline MacLaren — ha portato al Teatro dei Differenti un viaggio musicale che ha unito lirica e tradizione popolare, sotto la direzione artistica della regista Vivien Hewitt, che ha curato la presentazione della serata.
Sul palcoscenico si sono esibiti il tenore Sean Ruane e il soprano Celeste Nardi, accompagnati al pianoforte dal Maestro Andrea Tobia.
Protagonista della serata — come anche nel concerto pucciniano tenutosi a Glasgow nel 2024 per il centenario pucciniano — è stato l’oboista William Moriconi, che si è esibito con il Glasgow Create String Ensemble.
Quest’anno l’evento musicale che i Lucchesi nel Mondo offrivano tradizionalmente nel mese di settembre si è tenuto a Barga, come omaggio a un territorio che ha dato un contributo fondamentale alla storia dell’emigrazione.
Il concerto è stato organizzato in collaborazione con il Comune di Barga, l’associazione Barga Scots e la Scuola Civica di Musica di Barga, ed è stato sostenuto dalla Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, dalla Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca e dal Ministero della Cultura.
