Vespas Fill Barga for the 16th Regional Rally “Città di Barga”
The unmistakable sound of Vespa engines echoed around Barga on Sunday morning as riders from across Tuscany and beyond gathered in the city for the 16th Regional Vespa Rally “Città di Barga”, organised by the Vespa Club Barga.
More than one hundred Vespa enthusiasts arrived in Barga for the event, which this year adopted a new format designed to showcase not only the scooters but also the communities of the Serchio Valley.
Participants assembled in the piazza during the morning for registration and briefing before setting off on a route that would take them through a number of local villages. The rally was limited to 120 participants, making it one of the largest Vespa gatherings to be held in the area in recent years.
Among the scooters on display were beautifully restored vintage Vespas sitting alongside modern touring models. Some machines carried the signs of decades of travel, complete with luggage racks, rally stickers and accessories collected from Vespa events across Europe. Others gleamed as though they had just left the showroom.
One of the most innovative aspects of this year’s rally was the organisation of the lunch. Rather than gathering in a single restaurant at the end of the ride, participants were divided into two groups and guided through a gastronomic route across the area. Along the way they enjoyed different courses in different locations, with one village hosting the first course, another the main course and another the dessert.
Organisers explained that the staggered departure times were introduced to ensure that all participants could enjoy the experience without arriving too late at the various stops along the route.

L’inconfondibile rombo dei motori Vespa ha riecheggiato per le strade di Barga nella mattinata di domenica, mentre vespisti provenienti da tutta la Toscana e oltre si sono ritrovati nella città per il 16° Raduno Regionale Vespa “Città di Barga”, organizzato dal Vespa Club Barga.
Oltre cento appassionati di Vespa sono arrivati a Barga per l’evento, che quest’anno ha adottato una nuova formula pensata per valorizzare non soltanto gli scooter, ma anche le comunità della Valle del Serchio.
I partecipanti si sono ritrovati in piazza durante la mattinata per le operazioni di registrazione e il briefing prima di partire per un itinerario che li avrebbe condotti attraverso diversi paesi della zona. Il raduno era a numero chiuso, con un massimo di 120 partecipanti, diventando così uno dei più grandi incontri dedicati alla Vespa organizzati negli ultimi anni nel territorio.
Tra i mezzi esposti si potevano ammirare splendide Vespa d’epoca restaurate accanto a moderni modelli da turismo. Alcuni scooter portavano i segni di decenni di viaggi, completi di portapacchi, adesivi di raduni e accessori raccolti durante eventi Vespistici in tutta Europa. Altri brillavano come se fossero appena usciti dal concessionario.
Uno degli aspetti più innovativi dell’edizione di quest’anno è stata l’organizzazione del pranzo. Invece di ritrovarsi tutti in un unico ristorante al termine del percorso, i partecipanti sono stati divisi in due gruppi e guidati lungo un itinerario gastronomico attraverso il territorio. Lungo il tragitto hanno potuto gustare diverse portate in località differenti: un paese ha ospitato il primo piatto, un altro il secondo e un altro ancora il dessert.
Gli organizzatori hanno spiegato che le partenze scaglionate sono state introdotte per garantire a tutti i partecipanti la possibilità di vivere l’esperienza senza arrivare troppo tardi alle varie tappe previste lungo il percorso.
