A busy day for Steve Swallow, the world famous bass player who is here in Barga for the Barga Jazz Festival 2010 dedicated to him and his music.
His day started with a masterclass for students studying electric bass with the man who has long been many jazz critics’ favourite electric bassist for, rather than playing his instrument in a rock-oriented manner, Swallow is known for emphasizes the high notes and approaches the electric bass, to an extent, as if it were a guitar.
At midday he was in Palazzo Pancrazi to meet the Mayor of Barga, Marco Bonini along with Alessandro Rizzardi, artistic director of the festival, Bruno Tommaso the conductor and members of the Barga Jazz Orchestra including Pietro Tonolo the sax player.
This afternoon, back in the Teatro dei Differenti for a conference and final summing up of the masterclass and then this evening the final concert for the Barga Jazz festival 2010
