The subtitle of the long-running Daily Images section of this site is; ” tradition and change in a small community” which very neatly sums up the intention behind the making of those images.
It’s not just about “pretty images” but also about documenting the changes that are taking place in this area.
This evening there was an event which unfortunately an image or a series of images would not go anyway towards describing the change that is happening in Barga but luckily using the power of multimedia across the Internet all our readers have to do is click on the audioboo at the end of this article and all will be revealed.
For the second time this week there have been power cuts affecting Barga Vecchia.
The first one was at 5 AM in the morning and so very few people were actually aware of the power going off.
This evening it happened again, this time at precisely midnight and so a good deal more many people were affected as their houses went dark.
The power came back on again very quickly and so that should have been the end of the story but for the second time in seven days two minutes after the electricity was restored, the fire alarm in the Barga public library – Biblioteca Fratelli Rosselli went off.
The first time irate residents of Barga Vecchia living close to the library phoned the Carabinieri it still took more than one hour before silence was restored to the city.
This evening it was done in a slightly quicker time of just 50 minutes from start to finish before those responsible for the library managed to control the wayward device.[dw-post-more level=”1″]

There is obviously a bug in the system which when the power is disconnected triggers the fire alarm.
The fire alarms are situated up high on the wall of the library and just below the overhanging roof so please spare a thought for the residents in the palazzo just opposite the library who for the second time in seven days have had their sleep disturbed by a fire alarm going off literally 3 m away from their bedroom on the top floor of their palazzo.
Patience is a virtue and especially in the holiday season one hopes it is the season of goodwill to all but their patience must be sorely tested today.
