The Festa del Centro Storico opened this evening in Barga Vecchia with all due Pomp and Circumstance- the band marching, flags flying – and of course, the tricoloured tape that has to be ceremonially cut asunder before the whole thing can start.
At Porta Reale the tape was cut and the 10 days festival of music and just plain enjoying ones self inside the Castle started.
And what a mixed menu it was this evening:
Guitar and accordion in the Piazza Annunziata.

Freshly cooked Bomboloni, the Italian doughnuts at the Scacciaguai (their site is here)
Crepes in Piazza Angelio with the music supplied by some old friends of barganews – the Ratband from Lucca.

Kebabs in the Birreria set up for the festa next to the Scottish Museum
