As we have already published in an article last month (article here) there is a new name to add to the list of artists working in this area – the filmmaker,David Melani. His production company started work in Barga this weekend filming sections of his latest film “Natalino”
The film is based around a comic strip drawn by Nazareno Giusti involving the tragic story of a small boy injured during the war in 1944. Some of the scenes from this film had already been shot nearby at Ghivizzano but the streets are too narrow for the scenes involving lorries carrying German troops and so the production company is looking to Barga as a possible alternative.
Sommocolonnia with its history with the Buffalo soldiers and the Gothic line is also being looked at as a possible site for filming.
Saturday evening some of the roads through Barga Vecchia where temporarily blocked as filming started on some of the night scenes up at the Duomo and in 4 other locations in the city.
