Florida State University opera singers in rehearsals

Students from the Florida State University and Dr. Jerrold Pope with his Institute Barga are deep into rehearsals for their series of upcoming concerts starting tommorow in the Teatro dei Differenti, Barga.
Located in the mountains of Tuscany, the beautiful Medici town of Barga provides an inspiring locale for this intensive language based program for aspiring singers and accompanists. Besides the month-long Italian course, the program also offers a recitative seminar in which secco and accompanied recitative techniques, libretto declamation, and poetic recitation will be addressed and practiced. Singers will coach one-on-one with faculty and participate in vocal master classes throughout each week. The objective of the program will be to develop an idiomatic approach to the Italian operatic and solo vocal literature. All performances will take place in Barga's Teatro dei Differenti, built in 1668 and will be accompanied by either orchestra or piano.
