Cars removed from Barga Vecchia

Following on from the noisy public meetings held last month, all car parking in three of the main piazza's in Barga Vechia has now been banned.

Workmen have already painted new yellow lines outside the walls for 30 car parking spaces for exclusive use by residents.

The sound of fierce polemic could be heard in Barga this morning as the city woke up to find on one hand, the architectural beauty of the castle finally visible as the open spaces in Piazza Angelio and Piazza Comune were revealed in all their splendour and discontent on the other as the 30 places allocated outside the walls quickly filled up leaving many people a longer walk down to the the new car park below the town.

The ban should stay in place until the end of the summer.

could it be possible that a few council workers(and i use the term loosly)from glasgow city council have been transfered on a work exchange to barga as it looks like in contradiction to the tourist promos on the wall of the fosso that they are trying to deter visitors rather than invite them to the wonderful town of barga you should see the state of our raods over here ciao.

Nice bright yellow lines really do wonders for the overall atheistic and historical architectural beauty of the city walls (not). The yellow is ghastly; they should have stayed with white lines! Is the yellow a bit of a power status, don't mess with us, we have yellow paint and can make lines.

what a sad sad day if the local bureaucrats are going to take away the tranquility and peaceful atmosphere that barga has always had by, as rawcut said putting these offensive YELLOW lines down we visit barga to get away from being told what to do why could they not just stayed with the white lines as before they got the message across and were much softer on the eye.
