Emotional scenes last night in Barga for the Processione di Gesù Morto
Held only once every five years, the procession winds through the candle lit streets of Barga with the confraternities of each of the churches proudly bearing their ancient banners and a statue of a dead Christ which is taken around the city up to Il Fosso just outside the city walls and then back once more to the SS.Crociffisso church.
The emotion came to a peak with the arrival of the ailing Don Piero who through illness was unable to take part in the procession but did give the final blessing at Il Fosso
