The newly opened bookshop in Barga Vecchia (article here) – the Liberia Barga Vecchia, was completely packed this evening for the presentation of the new book by the Barga author Simone Togneri (article here). The doors were kept open allowing more people from the outside a chance the hear the proceedings inside – this unfortunately had the reverse effect as the booming sound of the dj in the next piazza almost overpowered the voice of Simone and the presentation by Graziella Cosimini.

That DJ in the teatro piazza was a travesty of the festa’s spirit. Horrible. But what a terrible shame the suspension was for the hundreds of people who take pleasure in the festa delle piazzette, and for the wonderful musicians who make it such a lovely week. There has to be a better way to resolve complaints, however justified.
